- Additional information
The 1K2 is externally adjustable in damping and adjustable in height. All our shock absorbers are custom made and adjusted to your specific needs (street, track day, race, rally).
So if you choose for our system we need some extra technical information as below:
- For what purpose will your car be used (street, trackday, race, rally etc. or a combination)?
- What type and size tire will the car drive on?
- What size rim do you use?
- Any other change (compared to standard) on the car that can influence the handling of the car (weight, power, roll cage etc)?
Intrax chooses one knob for the damping adjustment. With this one knob, you can set different damping settings. When you adjust the knob, both rebound and compression will be adjusted in the correct damping force. This unique system makes it very easy to find the correct setup for your driving style and road conditions. Finally, the damping system is equipped with a heating device (thermostat) to ensure the damping force will stay constant under all operating temperatures.
For the front, we have a 45mm upside-down shock absorber. This combination gives a very high installation stiffness in your front Mac Pherson suspension. This will not only enhance the grip and traction but also the feeling that the driver has with its car.
For the rear we have an 46mm light weight shock
The shocks can also be built as a 2K2 shock. With this shocks, you will have an external reservoir on which the bump can be separately adjusted from the rebound. Of course, the shocks are of the same high standard materials build as the 1K2 and 4-way shock and includes a thermostat.
The 4-way is our top product. The damper is adjustable in the low- and high-speed compression, rebound and the overall range of the low-speed compression, these adjustments can all be done separately and have no interference with each other what so ever. This makes it very good to fine tune the setup. Finally the damping system is equipped with a heat device (thermostat) to insure damping force stability and optimum performance during all different operation temperatures.
For the rear we have an 46mm light weight shock
1K2 and 4-Way XL (for this system some adjustments have to be made on the car)
We also have the Xl version of the 1K2 and 4-Way dampers, these have a 62mm housing with 52mm insert, instead of the 46mm housing. The XL version is always equipped with our black-titan coating. The extra thickness of the insert, the housing in combination with the upside down configuration gives an even higher installation stiffness than the 45mm Intrax standard thickness. Because this extra installation stiffness is only functional with a Mac Pherson suspension the rear is the same as the normal 4-Way system.
For the front we have a 52mm upside down shock absorber
All BMW sets are equipped with camber plates on the front, our 12mm aluminium camber plates, compared to the original rubber top mounts which allow a lot of unwanted movement, will greatly improve ride handling because of the extra control over the damping and steering. The plates allow stepless adjustment inc caster and camber.. For the camber plate,s we use the best materials. The bearing is enclosed in a stainless steel holder. The aluminium plate is made from “aircraft-Quality” material “7075”
IMPORTANT: we don’t advise camber plates for street use because of the possible noises that can be heard due to the hard connection that’s made between the chassis and the suspension.
The shock absorber set can be equipped with the “Black Titan” coating, which will be applied on the guidance- and piston rod. Black Titan is a development from the military aircraft industry. Their engines must perform under the toughest conditions, they must function from +40°C up to -30°C. After they fitted their engines with Black Titan, the service interval was increased by 100%. Intrax decided that what is good for their aeroplane engines must be good for our shock absorbers. The Black Titan coating, which will be applied on the guidance- and piston rod, cannot rust and is extremely hard and smooth. The friction is lowered with these piston rods, reducing oil temperatures, improving traction and extending lifetime under the severest conditions.
ARC (Anti Roll Control)®
After years of development, Intrax did it. They developed a unique way to drastically reduce unwanted roll (lateral and longitudinal). Your car will have the comfort and all the other benefits of driving with “soft” springs, until you take a corner, need to brake hard or drive through a pothole. Than ARC will control ride height with the feel of a sport setup. For the recreational drive,r a must have because this is the ideal combination for driving to your job and competing in time attacks and or other races. The rally and race car driver it’s a must have to. Because now for the first time you can have the benefits of a soft spring set up without the disadvantages of too much body roll and/or collapsing suspension in putt holes, jumps, curbs.
