The Day Ryan Let Me Drift His 650bhp M4 at Snetterton

Date: 20250515

Duration: 1 Day

Cost: £250

Route / Stops: Snetterton

Location: Snetterton, Norfolk

Summary: What started as a straightforward day at Snetterton Circuit quickly became one of the funniest track days we’ve done.We had a proper mix of cars on track — my Renault Mégane RS, Ryan’s heavily modified BMW M4, Simon’s BMW M2, Aaron’s Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR and Andy’s Renault Clio 172.Then Ryan made the mistake of letting me drive his M4.A few sideways laps later, plenty of drifting and one very green passenger, we had to come back into the pits before Ryan was sick.Worth it.

Snetterton Track Day

One Very Funny Day Out

Some track days are all about chasing lap times.

This definitely wasn’t one of them.

A few of us headed up to Snetterton Circuit for a simple day trip.

Drive up early.

Track day.

Drive home.

Nice and easy.

The car lineup was great as well.

I brought my Renault Mégane RS

Ryan brought his heavily modified BMW M4

Simon brought his BMW M2

Aaron brought his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR

And Andy brought his Renault Clio 172

I’ve always loved Snetterton Circuit.

I’ve raced there before and even managed to win there, so it’s always a track I enjoy going back to.

But this day quickly became memorable for a completely different reason.

Ryan made the questionable decision of handing me the keys to his M4.

And this thing was ridiculous.

Around 650 horsepower.

And it absolutely loved going sideways.

Every corner felt like an invitation to drift it.

Turn in.

Get on the power.

Catch the slide.

Repeat.

At one point we overtook someone through a corner while fully sideways.

Which probably looked either very impressive or very concerning depending on who was watching.

I genuinely thought we were either going to get black flagged or asked to calm down at some point.

But I was having far too much fun to worry about that.

After a few laps we had to come back into the pits.

Not because of the car.

Not because of the tyres.

Not because of the marshals.

Because Ryan looked like he was about to be sick in the passenger seat.

I was laughing so much I could barely breathe.

It was chaos.

Completely unnecessary.

And absolutely brilliant.

That’s what made the day so memorable.

No major issues.

No big drama.

Just a bunch of mates enjoying their cars and having a genuinely hilarious day on track.

Which is pretty much what Race Paddock is all about.
