Summary: Stu, Ryan, and Tom headed out for an early Sunday morning drive around Beachy Head near Eastbourne, taking advantage of the quiet summer roads before the traffic arrived. With Stu in the 911, Ryan in the Golf R, and Tom in the M2, it was simply a relaxed morning enjoying some of the best local roads with good friends and good cars.

Sometimes the best car events aren’t really events at all.

One summer Sunday morning, Stu, Ryan, and Tom met up nice and early near Beachy Head, just outside Eastbourne, for a local drive out before the roads got busy for the day. Stu brought the 911 along, Ryan was in his Golf R, and Tom came in his M2, which made for a pretty good mix of cars for a relaxed morning run.

Anyone local to the area will know that the roads around Beachy Head can actually be brilliant to drive when they’re quiet. The problem is they rarely stay quiet for very long. Between weekend traffic, cyclists, tourists, and the endless convoy of slow-moving Sunday drivers, you don’t often get much chance to properly enjoy them later in the day.

That’s exactly why the early start was worth it.

With hardly anyone around, the roads were calm, the weather was good, and it was one of those mornings where you can simply enjoy driving without rushing anywhere. No schedule, no event entry, no pressure, just three mates out in their cars making the most of a quiet summer morning.

Beachy Head itself always makes a pretty decent backdrop too. Early in the day, before everything gets busy, the whole area has a much more relaxed feel to it and the roads flowing around the South Downs are perfect for this sort of drive.

More than anything, it was just a reminder of why people enjoy cars in the first place. You don’t always need huge events or packed showgrounds. Sometimes getting up early, grabbing a coffee, and heading out on some good roads with friends is more than enough.
