Early morning drives always seem to hit differently during summer, especially when the roads are still quiet and everyone else is still in bed.
For this breakfast run, Stu, Ryan, and Tom headed out early for a few hours driving through Kent and East Sussex, making the most of some of the best local roads before the weekend traffic started clogging everything up. Stu brought the 911 along, Ryan was out in his M4 this time, and the three cars made for a decent little convoy rolling through the countryside.
The route took them through some great driving areas including Bodiam, Battle, and Rye, all places that work perfectly for relaxed morning drives when they’re quiet. There’s a good mix of flowing country roads, open sections, and small villages around that part of the country, which makes it ideal for this sort of thing.
Like most breakfast runs, there wasn’t really a strict plan beyond getting the cars out, enjoying the roads, and finding somewhere decent to stop for food along the way. Sometimes those are the best sorts of drives because there’s no pressure to be anywhere or stick to a schedule.
By the time breakfast was done and everyone started making their way back, the roads were already beginning to get busier, which made the early start feel even more worthwhile.
More than anything, it was just a genuinely enjoyable few hours out with good friends, good cars, and some brilliant roads. Nothing overcomplicated, just a proper old-school morning drive before the world wakes up.
